The Royal Canadian Mint introduces the 2024 Treasure Maple Leaf limited edition to celebrate King Charles III’s coronation as the new leader of the British Commonwealth Community.
The series features three one-ounce silver coins and a tenth-ounce gold coin, with exclusive privy marks: the Congratulations, the Year of the Dragon, and the Polar Bear.
This 1/10 oz gold coin features the Polar Bear privy mark, the characteristic maple leaf design, and, for the first time, King Charles III’s effigy.

The Design
The new obverse design with King Charles III is the official portrait created by artist Steven Rosati. It is accompanied by the monarch’s name and the coin’s denomination and year issuance through “5 DOLLARS 2024.”
The reverse design displays the traditional Walter Ott’s Maple Leaf, completed with “CANADA” engraved on top and “9999 FINE GOLD 1/10 OZ OR PUR 9999,” describing the coin’s weight, metal content, and fineness in English and French.
The Polar Bear privy mark is encircled on the lower left.

MS stands for Mint State, referring to a coin made in the same format as a business circulation sample, which has never been in circulation. Grade 69 refers to a coin whose original luster is preserved despite almost invisible minor contact marks or flaws.
