The US Mint issued Liberty Quarter Eagle Coins between 1840 and 1907 to be part of the national circulating currency as the official $2.50 coin, containing .12094 oz of gold. 

Christian Gobrecht was the artist in charge of its design, which remained untouched for 67 years, making it the longest-running design in the history of American coinage.

On the reverse, the Heraldic Eagle has outstretched wings, the national shield on its chest, arrows, and an olive branch on its talons.

Additional inscriptions describe the nation’s name and the coin’s face value.
