NGC MS-62 $2.50 Indian Quarter Eagle Gold Coin - Random Year

The Design
As the moniker suggests, the obverse design brings a left-profile bust of a Native American Chief wearing a full headdress. The image is supplemented by the word “LIBERTY,” the year of issuance, and thirteen five-pointed stars representing the Thirteen Original Colonies. Sculptor Bela Lyon Pratt, an Augustus Saint-Gaudens student, designed this coin, and we can see her initials right above the mint year.
The reverse features the Bald Eagle perched on an arrow wrapped around an olive branch. These two symbols combined represent America’s desire for peace, but an enduring military awareness.
The engravings on both sides of the Eagle are “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.” Arching above is “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” and the coin’s face value of “2 ½ DOLLARS” lies at the bottom.
An NGC MS-62 Coin
Independent third-party services, like the NGC - Numismatic Guaranty Company, evaluate and grade coins using the Sheldon Grading Scale, which ranges from 1 to 70, according to their condition.
An MS-Mint State coin is a business coin that retains an original uncirculated condition. Grade 62 suggests that the coin may present marks and hairlines in focal areas, and noticeable scuff marks. But acceptable overall appearance.
