The Design
The obverse showcases the effigy of an Italian King according to the coin’s year of issuance. It is encircled by inscriptions that inform the king’s name and “RE D’ITALIA,” which translates to “King of Italy,” and the coin’s year of mintage at the bottom.
The reverse features the Italian Coat of Arms, which consists of a crowned shield with the star of Italy atop, surrounded by laurels, and flanked by the coin’s face value. “L” stands for Lira, the official currency of Italy at that time at par with the French franc, and “20” for the monetary denomination. The “R” mint mark at the lower left refers to the Rome Mint.
Because they are average circulated coins, they may present signs of contact and wear.
