The cross originates in old paganism as the symbol for Christianity. After Constantine, three decades after Christ, the use of the cross as a Christian image started. Jesus' crucifixion and death on the cross gave the cross a new meaning for the Christian faith. It has been limited in its intent.
Now, the cross is widely accepted the use of the cross as the main image of Christianity. Protestant and Catholic churches have crosses carved into doors, designed in colorized windows, and carved into the walls of their structures. A lot of Christian people around the globe wear rosaries with crosses on them, bracelets, rings, and other jewelry items bearing the cross. Furthermore, during prayer many Christians make the sign of the cross. Many think that the cross shields them from harm and keeps malicious forces away.
