Gold Britannia 4-Coin Proof Set - Random Year
The Britannia Series is a shining example of the Royal Mint’s exceptional craftsmanship and artistry.
First launched in 1987, this iconic series has earned its place in the numismatic world with striking portrayals of the British monarchs—initially Queen Elizabeth II and, more recently, King Charles III—and Britannia, a timeless symbol of strength and resilience.
The Britannia coins are available in silver and gold and come in various sizes, finishes, and even fractional options.
Gathering the four gold coins of the series, SD Bullion offers the Gold Britannia 4-Coin Proof Set, which contains 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz proof gold coins of various mint years.
They are randomly selected from our inventory based on our availability at the time of shipping.

The Obverse Design
The obverse has displayed the British Monarchs over the years.
The series debuted with the effigy of a young Queen Elizabeth II. Over the years, the succession of effigies stamped on the obverse of Britannia coins portrayed Her Majesty's maturity.
The first portrayal, designed by Raphael Maklouf, was used until 1997. The second, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, was used between 1998 and 2015 to showcase a more mature and realistic portrayal of the Queen. Jody Clark designed the final official effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. It was notable for being the first royal portrait created digitally.
The passing of the Queen in 2022 brought a new obverse design to Britannia coins. In the second semester of 2022, the effigy of King Charles III, designed by Martin Jennings, premiered in the series. It consists of a left-profile bust without a crown, following a longstanding tradition for male monarchs.
The coin’s face value usually accompanies the Royal effigies.
The Reverse Design
The reverse depicts Britannia, the feminine national guise, on British coins since 1672. Philip Nathan created the reverse, in which Britannia faces a fierce wind, carrying the Union Jack Shield and her trident.
The artistry includes the coin’s weight, metal content, fineness, and issuance.
Because they are proof coins, their blank fields exhibit a mirror-like luster, while the design elements are engraved with a matte finish.
