The Design

It is standard for all Goldback Notes designs to showcase a feminine figure symbolizing a particular virtue. 

The design portrays “Justitia”, the personification of justice, standing before Balanced Rock in Utah’s Arches National Park near Moab. She holds scales in one hand as a symbol of fairness and balance, while a sword in the other represents the protection of truth. A blindfold emphasizes the impartial nature of justice.

Her belt bears the word “Deseret,” referencing Utah’s proposed original name and its connection to the honeybee. Above the landscape, a bald eagle represents freedom and authority, while hidden UV artwork reveals a rabbit in its talons, adding another layer of symbolism to the composition.

The “1/4” monetary denomination is engraved beside “UTAH GOLDBACK.” The note’s weight and metal content are at the bottom, beneath the inscription “Judge righteously.”

The note displays design elements on the obverse, leaving the reverse blank and mirroring only those on the obverse.
