Gold Aurum 24k Idaho 1 Goldback Note
The Gold Aurum 24k Idaho 1 Goldback Note marks the ninth state-issued release in the Aurum Mint’s expanding Goldback Series. Crafted with embedded 24 karat gold, each Goldback functions as a voluntary medium of exchange that participating merchants may choose to accept based on its intrinsic precious metal value. While not federally recognized as legal tender, Goldbacks have grown in popularity since the first Utah release in 2019 under the Utah Legal Tender Act.
Following Utah, the series has expanded to include Nevada, New Hampshire, Wyoming, South Dakota, Florida, Oklahoma, Arizona, and now Idaho. Containing 1/1000 troy ounce of 24k gold, the Gold Aurum 24k Idaho 1 Goldback Note offers collectors a visually striking and compact way to acquire fractional gold.

The Design
Goldback designs traditionally feature an allegorical female figure representing a specific virtue. The Idaho 1 Goldback honors Fides, the virtue of faith and trust. She is portrayed as a pioneer mother guiding her child along the historic California Trail, a scene symbolizing courage, direction, and the steadfast belief needed by early settlers. Her serene expression and protective presence convey the mutual trust between parent and child.
The artwork incorporates Idaho landmarks and natural elements, including the City of Rocks, a covered wagon, and wildlife representing endurance and vigilance. The mother holds a Bible, reinforcing the central theme of faith. The “1” denomination is engraved beside “IDAHO GOLDBACK,” with the note’s weight and gold content inscribed at the bottom near the phrase “We walk by faith, not by sight.” The reverse mirrors the obverse design in keeping with Goldback production standards.
Goldback Notes
Goldbacks are fractional gold notes created by layering 24-karat gold within a clear, durable polymer film. They are used as a voluntary regional currency in select U.S. locations and valued widely as collectible bullion. Denominations range from 1 to 100, with each note’s gold content precisely matching its denomination from 1/1000 troy ounce up to 1/10 troy ounce.
States currently issuing Goldbacks include Utah, Nevada, New Hampshire, Wyoming, South Dakota, Florida, Oklahoma, Arizona, and Idaho.
