2025-W NGC PF-70 First Day of Issue 1 oz American Silver Eagle Proof Coin - West Point Label
The American Silver Eagle is a widely collected silver coin worldwide. First issued in 1986 under the US Mint’s American Eagle Program, it has become an icon of numismatic and bullion portfolios.
Each coin contains 1 Troy oz of 99.9% fine silver, holds legal tender status, and features Adolph A. Weinman’s celebrated “Walking Liberty” design on the obverse. Since 2021, the reverse has showcased Emily Damstra’s detailed portrayal of a Bald Eagle.
These coins, in particular, are Proof Silver Eagles, distinguished by their brilliant luster, which enhances every intricate detail of the design. They were struck at the West Point Mint, bearing the “W” mint mark, and sealed by NGC with a West Point Label.
Today, SD Bullion offers the 2025-W 1 oz American Silver Eagle Proof Coin, graded as a PF-70 sample and sealed in an NGC slab with a West Point Label.

The Design
The obverse features Adolph A. Weinman’s timeless "Walking Liberty" design, depicting Lady Liberty gracefully striding toward the sunrise, draped in the American flag, and holding oak and laurel branches, symbolizing strength and peace.
The design also contains the word “LIBERTY,” the motto “IN GOD WE TRUS,” the “W” mint mark from the West Point branch, and the year of mintage.
The reverse showcases Emily Damstra’s modern depiction of a Bald Eagle in flight, clutching an oak branch in its talons—a powerful representation of resilience and freedom.
It bears the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "ONE DOLLAR," and "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," as well as the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM."
An NGC PF-70 “First Day of Issue” Coin
NGC, which stands for Numismatic Guaranty Company, operates independently of sovereign mints, evaluating and grading coins using the Sheldon Scale, whose grading system ranges from 1 to 70.
For NGC, a “First Day of Issue” coin is a sample purchased from its original mint on the first day of its official release and submitted to its appraisal.
According to the scale, PF stands for Proof Coin, indicating a coin produced for collection purposes, which exhibits mirror-like surfaces in contrast with frosted design elements. 70 is the highest grade on the scale attributed to flawless coins.
