2025 PCGS MS-70 First Day of Issue 1 oz British Gold Britannia and Liberty Coin - Exclusive Label
Follwing an unprecedented partnership between the Royal Mint and the US Mint, the Britannia and Liberty Series returns for its second release in 2025. This year, SD Bullion is proud to partner with them to offer this series exclusively to our customers! Through iconic gold and silver coins, this series honors the long-lasting partnership between two of the world's most storied nations—The United States and The United Kingdom.
The combined talents of the Royal Mint and the US Mint Chief Engravers resulted in an alluring shared reverse design starring Britannia and Liberty.
Britannia and Liberty, symbols of strength and freedom, are enduring icons of the United Kingdom and the United States, respectively. These powerful female figures represent virtues that are fundamental to each nation's identity.
Britannia personifies resilience and fortitude, reflecting Britain's steadfast spirit. Liberty, rooted in the ideals of the Declaration of Independence, embodies the principle of freedom—one of the core values upon which the United States was founded and continues to uphold.
These 99.99% pure gold coins were shipped directly from the Royal Mint to PCGS for grading and certification. Only the top quality coins receive the grade of MS-70 from PCGS and for the first release in 2024, only 67 coins in total were graded MS-70 by PCGS!
Today, you can acquire 2025 1 oz British Gold Britannia and Liberty Coins, sealed in PCGS slabs and graded as MS-70 First Day of Issue, at SD Bullion.

The Design
Britannia and Liberty, the legendary feminine guises, share an alluring reverse designed by Gordon Summers, Chief Engraver of the Royal Mint, and Joseph Menna, Chief Engraver of the US Mint. They are showcased in a right-profile closeup, with heads in opposing orientations.
Britannia, who wears a Corinthian helmet and carries a trident, embodies resilience and fortitude, mirroring Britain’s steadfast spirit.
Liberty, depicted with a torch and free-flowing, star-adorned hair, is deeply rooted in the ideals of the Declaration of Independence, the unyielding pursuit of freedom—one of the United States’ founding principles.
It is also engraved with “BRITANNIA AND LIBERTY” and “2025” “1 OZ 999.9 FINE GOLD” regarding the coin’s issuance, weight, fineness, and metal content.
The obverse displays King Charles III’s portrayal, the same as that used in Britannia coins, designed by Martin Jennings.
The effigy is encircled by “CHARLES III,” the initials “D.G.REX.F.D,” which in Latin means “By the grace of God, King,” and “100 POUNDS,” for face value.
A PCGS MS-70 First Day of Issue coin
PCGS (Professional Coins Grading Service) appraises and certifies coins using the Sheldon Grading Scale, which ranks coins from 1 to 70.
PCGS considers a “First Day of Issue” coin a sample purchased from its original mint on the first day of its official release and submitted to its appraisal.
MS stands for Mint State, indicating a coin crafted in the format of a business circulation coin. Since it has never been in circulation, the coin has no flaws, which grants it a 70 grade.
