Also present on the obverse are the inscriptions “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” the year of issue, and the special commemorative privy mark.

That privy mark showcases the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor—the official emblem of the United States Marine Corps—with the words “UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS” encircling the design.

On the reverse, a contemporary rendering of a Bald Eagle is shown in flight, grasping an oak branch in its talons. The surrounding inscriptions read “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “ONE DOLLAR,” “1 OZ. FINE SILVER,” along with the national motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”
