The Design

The Lunar Series III silver coins showcase a standard design by Dan Throne, portraying King Charles III. His Majesty’s bust is surrounded by the coin’s weight, purity, metal content, face value, and the inscription “CHARLES III, AUSTRALIA.”

The reverse depicts a coiled snake on the ground beneath hanging leaves. It includes the Chinese character for ‘Snake,’ the inscription ‘SNAKE 2025’, and the Perth Mint’s “P” mintmark. 

The proof coin exhibits reflective blank surfaces because of its mirror-like luster, while the design elements are matte. The gilded coin depicts the coiled snake in golden tones, contrasting with the monochromatic silver backdrop. Finally, the colorized silver sample depicts a blueish-coiled snake.

The Year of the Snake

The Chinese Zodiac cycles through its signs annually, with each year associated with a specific animal.
