The Design

The reverse design centralized Walter Ott's sugar maple leaf depiction and flanked it with the engravings “9999,” “FINE GOLD,” “1/4 OZ,” and “OR PUR,” which correspond to the coin’s metal content, purity, and weight in French and English, and “CANADA,” on top.

The new obverse design features Steven Rosati's official portrait of King Charles III. His Majesty’s left-profile bust is surrounded by engravings “CHARLES III,” “10 DOLLARS,” and “2025.”

Both background surfaces are incused with radial lines. A small maple leaf lies on the lower right of the reverse design, beneath the main one, with the year of mintage’s last two digits micro-engraved as a security feature.

RCM Bullion DNA

The Bullion DNA is a Royal Canadian Mint exclusive anticounterfeiting technology. DNA stands for Digital Non-Destructive Activation, meaning each coin receives an encrypted string of codes during registration. The registered codes remain stored on the RCM’s database and are only readable through a specialized scanner.
