The Design

Since 2023, the Gold Britannia series has featured the new obverse design of King Charles III, depicted facing left. Traditionally, each new monarch's image faces the opposite direction of their predecessor.

The bust of His Majesty was created by sculptor Martin Jennings, and the inscriptions around the portrait include “CHARLES III,” the coin's face value of “10 POUNDS,” the year “2025,” and “D.G.REX.F.D,” meaning “By the Grace of God, King” in Latin.

The reverse continues to feature Philip Nathan's classic 1987 design of Britannia. She is portrayed as a warrior holding a trident, with a shield emblazoned with the Union Jack, embodying Britain's strength and unity.

The reverse inscriptions read “‘BRITANNIA’ 2025’ 1/10 oz’ 999.9’ FINE’ GOLD,” describing the coin’s name, year, weight, purity, and metal content.

Security Features
