2024-W CAC PR-70 First Day of Delivery 1 oz American Gold Buffalo Proof Coin
The Gold Buffalo Coin, crafted by the US Mint, made its debut in 2006, marking a significant entry into the bullion market as the first American 24k gold coin.
Weighing 1 Troy oz and boasting a purity of 99.99% gold, this coin showcases James Earl Fraser's iconic Indian Head design, which dates back to 1913.
These coins, in particular, were produced at the West Point branch of the US Mint and carry the “W” mint mark.
These particular coins have been sourced from the first day the US Mint made them publicly available for sale. They have been sealed and certified by the CAC as PR-70 coins and given the “First Day of Delivery” designation.

Inscriptions including "LIBERTY" above the Chief's forehead, the year of minting, and an "F" representing the artist's initials complete the intricate design. The “W” mint mark from West Point is next to the Chief’s nape.
On the reverse, a majestic American Bison, resembling a Buffalo, covers the whole surface. Engravings adorn the design, reading "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," "IN GOD WE TRUST," "$50," and "1 OZ .9999 FINE GOLD," denoting the coin's denomination, weight, purity, and metal content, respectively.
A CAC PR-70 First Day of Delivery coin
Like similar third-party companies, CAC - Certified Acceptance Corporation appraises and grades coins, apart from sovereign mints, using the Sheldon Scale, which ranges from 1 to 70 depending on their condition.
PF stands for Proof Coin, indicating a coin produced for collection purposes, which exhibits mirror-like surfaces in contrast with frosted design elements. 70 is the highest grade and indicates a coin with no visible flaws.
According to CAC, a “First Day of Delivery” is a coin purchased from the US Mint on the very first day it was made publicly available.
