2024 2 oz Year of the Dragon Silver Coin - Lunar Series III

The Lunar Series is an annual collection of the Perth Mint. It consists of 12 bullion coins, in platinum, gold, and silver, and varied sizes, featuring the Chinese Astrological Signs.

Since the Dragon is the fifth sign of the Chinese Calendar, this is the 5th edition of Lunar Series III. Despite being a traditional series, its comprehensive options offer the possibility of making up a unique personal collection. The Design

The Dragon design has a close-up depiction, with water cascading from its mouth, twisted body, and paws, and holds a pearl, a sign of wisdom. It also features inscriptions corresponding to the Chinese symbol for the creature, “DRAGON 2024,” and a reference to the 125th anniversary of the Perth Mint, “P125.” 

The obverse design of the Lunar Series III is the same for all coins. The effigy of Queen Elizabeth II stamped on this side is a creation of artist Jody Clark from 1995.  The image is a right-profile bust of the Queen wearing the Diadem State Crown, encircled by “ELIZABETH II,” “1952-2022,” “AUSTRALIA,” “2 OZ 9999 Ag,” and “2 DOLLARS,” informing name and reigning period, the coin’s origin, weight, purity, metal content, and face value.
