The Design

The obverse features the iconic Walking Liberty design, symbolizing a personified nation.

Lady Liberty is depicted with the American flag draped over her shoulder and oak branches in her arm. She is walking toward the sunrise with an outstretched arm, a gesture of welcome and hope for new beginnings.

Above her is the inscription “LIBERTY,” while “IN GOD WE TRUST” and the year of mintage are also engraved.

Traditionally, the reverse showcased the Bald Eagle, a longstanding symbol of the United States. However, in 2021, marking the program’s 35th anniversary, the reverse was updated to depict an eagle perched on a branch.

Additional inscriptions include the coin’s weight, metal content, and purity: “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “ONE DOLLAR,” “1 OZ,” and “FINE SILVER.”
