The Design

The standard 1 oz Gold Libertad features the eleven Coats of Arms used throughout Mexican history.

The current seal is centralized, encircled by the words “ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS” and its previous versions. In all of them, the image repeats the Independence effort through the symbolic Eagle defeating the foreign rattlesnake.

The Winged Victory on the reverse is the reproduction of a 17-foot statue atop the monument dedicated to the national independence in Mexico City. 

The words on this side read: “1 ONZA ORO PURO”, “2023,” and “LEY .999”, which stands for weight, metal content, issuance, and purity levels. The “M” refers to the mintmark.
