The Design

The Angel on the reverse design is Victoria, the Roman Goddess of Victory, who became a feminine symbol of freedom and a 17-foot monument in Mexico City. 

In this design, Victoria has her wings spread open and carries a wreath of laurel and broken chains. Two volcanos figure as background images, symbolizing a beautiful folk love story. 

The coin’s weight, metal content, mintage, and purity are detailed through: “1/20 ONZA ORO PURO,” “2023,” and “LEY .999.” The “M” aside stands for the mintmark.

The national seal engraved on the obverse features an eagle perched on a cactus eating a rattlesnake. It is an emblematic symbol of Mexico defeating the Spanish domination. The words around the image are: “ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.”
