The 2022 Perth Mint Lunar Series III coins were recently released by the world-renowned Perth Mint and the highly anticipated proof versions of these coins are now available. The Perth Mint is well known for its unique series and collections. The Perth Mint first began producing Lunar coins in 1996 with the Lunar Series I program and has since relaunched its lunar collections with the Lunar Series II collection in 2008 and the more current Lunar Series III collection, which debuted in 2020.
Each one-ounce coin is struck with 99.99% pure gold, representing a 24 karat gold coin. The Lunar Series proof coins are shipped in an elegant red display case with a magnetic lid, displaying gold writing of the series name on the outside. Inside the box, the coin is individually capsulated and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) from the mint.
Design:
This coin features a captivating tiger design. The tiger is shown ferociously perched atop a rock, peering over its back and exposing its teeth and claws. The tiger's fur is meticulously detailed. The Chinese symbol for the tiger is to the left of the beast, with the words "TIGER" and "2022" beneath it. Finally, the Perth Mint mintmark can be seen on the coin's leftmost side.
The reverse is similar to that of many other Perth coins. The coin has a legal tender value of 100 dollars, backed by the Australian government. The classic effigy of Queen Elizabeth II is seen in the middle of the coin and the weight, purity, issuing country and face value all surround her. Each coin is shipped in a protective plastic capsule from the mint.
