When it comes to MS-70 condition, only about 4 percent of all 1⁄4 oz gold eagle coins are graded as such. There were 64,000 quarter-ounce gold eagles in total minted in 2018, for example, and only 3,017 were given a grade of MS-70 by NGC. Since the business began in 1987, NGC has graded over 11 million Gold Eagle coins, so you can be confident that these coins will be completely perfect, as the MS-70 indicates. The 'Early Releases' that will be printed on the slab suggest that NGC obtained the coin within the first 30 days of production.
The obverse design features Lady Liberty with a torch in her left hand and an olive branch in her right proudly striding ahead. The coin's rim is lined with six-pointed stars. With the word "LIBERTY" at the very top of the coin, 2021 will be minted to the right of it.
The brand new reverse design for the 2021 Gold Eagles depicts a portrait of an eagle. Inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” “50 DOLLARS,” and “1 OZ. FINE GOLD.” Mint Artistic Infusion Program (AIP) designer Jennie Norris created the design that was sculpted by Mint Medallic Artist Renata Gordon.
