2020 NGC MS-70 First Day of Issue 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Coin - Edmund C. Moy Label
The American Gold Eagles are the official gold bullion coins of the United States, first released in 1986 along with the American Silver Eagles.
That same year, the US Mint also introduced fractional Gold Eagles, including a 1/2 oz 22k gold coin.
1/2 oz Gold Eagles are legal tender with a face value of 25 US dollars and display traditional designs that reflect the core principles outlined by the Founding Fathers in the US Constitution.
These coins, in particular, were purchased from the US Mint on day #1 of their official release, graded as MS-70 coins, and sealed with the NGC Edmund C. Moy Label.
Edmund C. Moy served as the 38th Director of the US Mint from 2006 to 2011, earning recognition as the Father of the Modern Coin Era for his transformative impact on US Mint coinage. Under his visionary leadership, Moy introduced innovative designs and oversaw the creation of iconic series such as the 24k Gold Buffalo and the revered 2009 Ultra High Relief coin. Additionally, his initiatives resulted in unprecedented minting of gold and silver coins, sparking widespread global interest in modern U.S. Coins.

An NGC MS-70 First Day of Issue coin
NGC—Numismatic Guaranty Company is an internationally recognized service that works independently from sovereign mints. It appraises and grades coins using the Sheldon Scale, which ranges from 1 to 70.
For NGC, a “First Day of Issue” is a coin purchased from its original mint on the very first day it was made publicly available and submitted to NGC appraisal.
The term MS or Mint State describes a coin with the same format as a business circulation one that remained uncirculated. 70 is the grade given to coins with no visible flaws.
