Perth Mint brings the curtains down on one of the most illustrious coin programs of our time, Perth Mint's Lunar Series II, with its 12th and final release. These 2019 1 Kilo Australian Lunar Year of the Pig Silver Coins are the heaviest silver coins released to celebrate the Chinese Year of the Pig.
The Chinese Zodiac is represented by 12 animals, one for every successive year, starting with the rat and ending with the pig. People born during years ruled by the Pig are said to be not only loyal and honest, but they are also believed to be sincere and genuine.
The Lunar Series I Silver Coin program preceded the second iteration by almost a decade and was launched in 1999. The gorgeous annually-changing designs and sublime quality expected of Perth Mint bullion products attracted collectors and investors from across the globe. This continuing demand then prompted the mint to launch another iteration of this coin program in 2008 -- the Lunar Series II.
Each of these coins contains 1 kilogram of 0.9999 pure silver. Moreover, the coins are assigned legal tender status with official face values of $30 (AUD).
Ian Rank-Broadley's portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II is imprinted on the obverses of these coins -- like all other legal tender in the country. This image is accompanied by the year of issue, the Queen's name, the coin's face value, the purity and weight of the silver in the coin, and the name of the issuing country.
This year's releases celebrate the Year of the Pig with an adorable depiction of the animal that rules over 2019 according to the Chinese Zodiac. The Chinese character for 'Pig' and the words 'Year of the Pig' are also imprinted on this side.
These 2019 1 Kilo Australian Lunar Year of the Pig Silver Coins will add a hefty quantity of pure silver to your precious metals assets, while finally completing your Lunar Series II collections. Grab them before stocks run dry!
