Miley Busiek’s brilliant portrayal of a family of bald eagles graces the reverse side of this coin. The female is seen protectively snuggling against her chicks, looking upon the male as he returns to the nest. Meticulous attention to detail brings this engraving to life, making it one of the most recognizable American designs today. The face value of the coin, and the weight of gold in the coin is imprinted at the bottom of this side. ‘E Pluribus Unum’ and ‘In God We Trust,’ the national mottos of the United States are featured on either side of the family of eagles.
