The Design

The obverse symbolizes the nation's journey toward progress, peace, and enlightenment. 

It features Lady Liberty striding forward, holding a torch and an olive branch. The design is completed with the word "LIBERTY," the Capitol Building, and the coin’s mintage year.

The design displays a family of Bald Eagles: a female eagle nurturing her hatchling under her wing while the male stands guard on their nest. 

It also includes the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” the mottos “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and “IN GOD WE TRUST,” as well as the coin’s information of weight, metal content, and face value, which reads “1/4 OZ. FINE GOLD—10 DOLLARS.”
