2017 NGC MS-69 DPL 5 oz America the Beautiful Effigy Mounds Silver Coin
The America the Beautiful Quarter Program debuted in the numismatic market in 2010, offering five quarter-dollar coins weighing 5 troy ounces of 99.9% fine silver each.
The US Mint produced a total of 56 coins for the program until 2021, featuring distinctive reverse designs showcasing America’s most iconic parks, monuments, and forests.
The Effigy Mounds Silver Coin, the inaugural release of the 2017 series and the 36th overall, highlights the Effigy Mounds National Monument.
Established in 1949 in Iowa, this monument preserves one of the largest remaining collections of ancient American Indian earthworks in the United States, encompassing over 200 mounds of various shapes. It is considered a sacred landscape by members of numerous contemporary tribes whose ancestors once inhabited the area.
