2014 Shenandoah ATB 5 oz Burnished Silver Coin - America The Beautiful

The America the Beautiful coin series started in 2010 and over the years has become a much anticipated US Mint collection. The US Mint releases 5 new coins into the series each year. Each coins represents a unique National Park or Monument in each US State.

Each new release is minted into two different finishes. The mass produced finish is the bullion version. The smaller mintage finish is the burnished, brilliant uncirculated.

This SKU is the burnished version. These can be distinguished by the matte finish, as well as the "P" mint mark on the reverse of the image. This signified they were minted at the Philadelphia mint. Also, exclusive to the burnished version is their presentation. They are shipped in hard plastic, air-tite cases and laid inside a protect US Mint box (see photo above).

The Shenandoah National Park quarter is the second of 2014 and the 22nd overall in the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. Just 75 miles from Washington, D.C., Shenandoah National Park is an escape for travelers wanting a wide range of outdoor adventures. It features cascading waterfalls, spectacular vistas and quiet wooded hollows.

Park visitors enjoy hiking, meandering along the scenic Skyline Drive, or camping and picnicking with family or friends. Park habitats provide a haven for black bear and numerous songbirds. Creation of the park was authorized by legislation in 1926 (44 Stat. 616) with formal establishment in 1935 and dedication by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1936.
