The Design
The obverse displays Susan Blunt’s effigy of an elegant Queen Elizabeth II. The artist’s initials are discreetly seen on the bottom of Her Majesty’s right-profile bust.
The image has “ELIZABETH II” inscribed on top, arching over the effigy, while the coin’s face value of “5 DOLLARS” and the year of mintage “2013” are on the bottom rim.
The reverse design is Emily Damstra’s creation. This artist also signs the new Bald Eagle reverse design of the 2021 American Silver Eagle coins. Her initials are beneath the animal’s depiction.
The image features a pronghorn, a mammal native to Central and North America’s prairies, walking across a grassy vista.
“CANADA” is engraved on top. The coin’s fineness is on the right through “9999.”
On the bottom rim, read “FINE SILVER 1 OZ ARGENT PUR,” which refers to the coin’s metal content written in both official languages, English and French, and weight.
