2011 NGC MS-69 DPL Early Releases 5 oz America the Beautiful Vicksburg Silver Coin

The US Mint introduced the America The Beautiful Quarter Program in 2010 and crafted alluring silver coins for the series until 2021. Fifty-six coins weighing 5 Troy oz of 99.9% fine silver and stamped with America’s most emblematic parks, monuments, and forests were manufactured during that period.

The Vicksburg Silver Coin is the fourth strike of the 2011 edition and the 9th in the series.

The Vicksburg Military Park was designated a national site in Mississippi in 1899. The park commemorates one of the crucial battles of the Civil War—the campaign, siege, and defense of Vicksburg. The museum exhibits within the park illustrate the hardships endured by civilians and soldiers during the devastating 47-day siege of the city.

You can find 2011 5 oz America the Beautiful Vicksburg Silver Coins purchased from the US Mint within the first 30 days of their official release at SD Bullion. They exhibit a proof-like appearance and are certified by NGC as MS-69 DLP Early Releases coins.

It also contains the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “QUARTER DOLLAR.”

The reverse features the U.S.S. Cairo on the Yazoo River as it was while serving the U.S. Navy during the Civil War. The inscriptions accompanying the image read “VICKSBURG,” “MISSISSIPPI,” “2011,” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”

An NGC MS-69 DPL “Early Releases” Coin

NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Company) is globally renowned for evaluating and grading coins. They utilize the Sheldon Grading Scale, which rates coins from 1 to 70 according to their condition.

For NGC, “Early Releases” refer to coins purchased from the original mint within the first 30 days of their official release and taken to its appraisal.

MS stands for Mint State. Mint State coins are shaped as business coins. 69 is the grade attributed to coins whose flaws are almost invisible.

DPL refers to a deep proof-like finish, describing coins whose fields are deeply mirrored and resembling proof coins but are actually bullion coins.
