The Design

The obverse, designed by John Flanagan in 1932, portrays George Washington. It was inspired by William Cousins' 1786 official portrayal of the former President. 

It includes the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “QUARTER DOLLAR.” 

The reverse features the Lincoln Bridge, built in 1909 to commemorate President Abraham Lincoln's 100th birthday, set within a picturesque landscape of trees, birds, and rocks. 

Further inscriptions read “CHICKASAW,” “OKLAHOMA,” “2011,” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”
