The Chickasaw Silver Coin was the fifth coin released in 2011 and the tenth overall in the America the Beautiful Quarters Program.

The Chickasaw National Recreation Area, named in honor of the Chickasaw Indian Nation, is situated in Oklahoma. The area is celebrated for its mineral springs and clear creeks and holds significant cultural importance for the Chickasaw tribe.

The Design

The obverse features George Washington's effigy, designed by John Flanagan in 1932. It is an inspired version of the former President’s official portrayal illustrated by William Cousins in 1786.

It also contains the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “QUARTER DOLLAR.”

The reverse depicts the Lincoln Bridge, constructed in 1909 to commemorate President Abraham Lincoln's 100th birthday, set within a pristine landscape with trees, birds, and rocks. The inscriptions accompanying the image read “CHICKASAW,” “OKLAHOMA,” “2011,” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”
