The America The Beautiful Quarter Program aims to feature America's most iconic locations, which have been preserved as national sites due to their significant natural or historical value.

The fourth coin released in 2010, and the fourth in the entire series was the Grand Canyon Silver Coin. The Grand Canyon in Arizona, established as a national site in 1893, stretches 277 river miles, reaches up to 18 miles wide, and drops a mile deep, providing stunning vistas.

The Design

The coin's obverse side displays an image of George Washington, crafted by John Flanagan in 1932, based on the original design by William Cousins from 1786. It includes the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and "QUARTER DOLLAR." 

The reverse features the granaries above the Nankoweap Delta in Marble Canyon near the Colorado River, which were used for food and seed storage between 1050 and 1150 A.D. This side is inscribed with "GRAND CANYON," "ARIZONA," "2010," and "E PLURIBUS UNUM."
