The Coins’ Design

The obverse features the official portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Ian Rank Broadley. 

Her Majesty's effigy is surrounded by the engravings “ELIZABETH’II’D’G’REG’FID’DEF’,” which stands for Her Majesty’s name, the Latin initials to the translation “Reigning by the Grace of God, Defender of the Faith,” and the coin’s face value.

The reverse showcases the legendary Britannia driving a war chariot with her trident and steeds to war. The image is encircled by the coin’s weight, metal content, year of issuance, and the word “BRITANNIA.”

An NGC PF-69 coin

NGC - Numismatic Guaranty Company works independently from sovereign mints, appraising and grading coins using the Sheldon Scale, which ranks coins from 1 to 70.

PF refers to proof coins produced for collection purposes. They have mirrored fields and matte design elements on both sides of the coin. The number 69 means the coin's original luster is preserved despite almost invisible minor contact marks or flaws.
