The Design

The reverse illustrates a family of Bald Eagles, with a female eagle protecting her hatchling under her wing while the male eagle watches over the nest. 

The words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and the mottos “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and “IN GOD WE TRUST” are included. At the bottom, the coin's weight, metal content, and face value read “1/2 OZ. FINE GOLD—25 DOLLARS.”
