2003 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Coin
The American Eagle Program premiered in 1986 when American Gold Eagles were introduced to the numismatic market.
The US Mint first released a 1 oz American Gold Eagle, but the series acquired counterparts of varied finishes and sizes, like the 1/2 oz Gold Eagle coin, which boosted the US Gold Eagle Collection.
The 1/2 Gold Eagle is legal tender with a USD 25 face value. It is struck from 22-carat gold, with an alloy composed of 3% and 5.33% copper, which adds durability to the pieces. Despite the alloy, they weigh an entire 1/2 oz of pure gold content.
Today, 2003 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Coins are available at SD Bullion.

The Design

The word "LIBERTY" is inscribed along the upper rim, with the Capitol Building on the lower left and the mint year on the right.
Miley Busiek’s reverse design portrays a family of Bald Eagles, with the female protecting her hatchling under her wing while the male watches over their nest.
It also features the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," the mottos "E PLURIBUS UNUM," and "IN GOD WE TRUST," as well as details on the coin’s weight, metal content, and face value, which reads "1/2 OZ. FINE GOLD—25 DOLLARS."
