2001-W NGC PF-70 Proof American Silver Eagle Coins For Sale
Total Graded Population Of Only 4,133!
Featuring the very first American Silver Eagle Proof coins to be struck at the West Point Mint, instead of the Philadelphia facility of the United States Mint, these 2001-W American Silver Eagle Proof coins are certified and graded by NGC with perfect PF-70 Ultra Cameo grades.
Experts at NGC inspect these coins at 5X magnification, ensuring that the coin encased in the plastic holder accurately reflects the PF-70 grade being assigned to it. Ultra Cameo designations, on the other hand, are given to coins that display a uniquely high contrast between the design and mirror finished surfaces of the silver. Each of these 2001-W American Silver Eagle Proof coins is struck using 1 troy ounce of 0.999 pure silver. Furthermore, the United States Government has assigned a face value of $1 (USD) to all these coins.
Obverses of the coins have the following inscriptions on them – “Liberty,” “In God We Trust,” and the year of its release, “1987.” These phrases are imprinted on the edges of this side, encircling the beautiful portrayal of Lady Liberty by Adolph A. Weinman, popularly known as the Walking Liberty.
John Mercanti, the twelfth Chief Engraver of the US Mint created the design that graces the reverse of this coin, a symbol of American pride, the Heraldic Bald Eagle, wings spread behind a striped shield. Since these Proof coins are the first-ever American Silver Eagle Proofs to be struck at the West Point Mint (as indicated by the ‘W’ mint mark’), they make an essential addition to any American Silver Eagle collection.
