Buy Two Ounce Sons of Liberty Silver Rounds Online

The Sons of Liberty was created to destroy the British rule in colonial America and was one of the main factors in organizing and implementing the Tea Party. They were a well-organized, secret Patriotic political organisation. The origins and foundations of the Sons of Liberty are uncertain, but the history of the colonial port towns of Boston and New York have the oldest known record of the organisation starting in 1765. The Chapters of the Sons of Liberty of Boston and New York were designed and operated in connection with each other as an underground network.

The organization's Boston chapter was held their secret meetings at night under the "Liberty Tree". The Liberty Tree was on Hanover Square, where stood an immense 120-year-old elm tree. Despite very few records of the background to the organisation, the founding of the Sons of Liberty is often credited to Samuel Adams. In the summer of 1765, the Sons of Liberty most likely was organized to protest against the enactment of the Stamp Act.

This Sons of Liberty Round is minted by Intaglio Mint of Denver, CO using two troy ounces of .999 silver bullion.

The obverse of this silver round features a colonial soldier on one knee with the original 13-star American flag blowing in the wind behind him. The soldier also has a pistol strapped to his chest and is holding a Revolutionary War era rifle. The words “Sons of Liberty” are featured above the soldier.

The reverse of the Sons of Liberty round features the Tree of Liberty with a snake wrapped around its trunk. The tree is surrounded by a sunburst and stars. There are also muskets on either side of the design wrapped in a ribbon bearing the words “DEFENDING THE TREE OF LIBERTY”. Along the edge on the left are the words “TWO TROY OUNCES” and on the edge on the right side are the words “.999 FINE SILVER”.
