In 1776, the founding fathers switched their focus the structure of state governments and the Constitution in the wake of the Declaration of Independence being ratified. While it was originally not considered important to have a Bill of Rights to safeguard the people's rights, the advocates of the Constitution knew that it was essential to draft a Bill of Rights to get the Constitution ratified by the states. The Bill of Rights was formally incorporated into the Constitution in December 1791, thanks mainly to the efforts of James Madison.

Each round is minted using 1 troy ounce of pure 0.999 silver bullion and makes a wonderful gift due to its value and imagery that reminds every proud American of their rich history.

The obverse of this Bill of Rights Round features a left-facing profile of George Washington, similar to the one found on the current US quarter. This image is minted in front of a sunburst-like design. The quote “A FREE PEOPLE OUGHT NOT ONLY TO BE ARMED, BUT DISCIPLINED” is featured at the top of the round. This quote was said by Washington in the first ever State of the Union address on January 8,1790. The words “GEORGE WASHINGTON” are also featured at the bottom of the round.

The reverse of this silver round features the words “BILL OF RIGHTS” along the top of the round. In the center of the round is a scroll in front of a sunburst. The scroll features the wording for the Second Amendment of the US Constitution: “A Well Regulated Militia, Being Necessary to the Security of a Free State, the Right of the People to Keep and Bear Arms, Shall Not be Infringed.” also “Amendment II” is minted on the top of the scroll. At the bottom of the scroll are the round’s specifications of “1 Troy Ounce .999 Fine Silver” “DECEMBER 15, 1791”. Five stars are minted on either side of the scroll, with each one representing one of the first Ten Amendments of the Constitution. There are also two revolvers minted below the scroll representing a US citizen’s right to bear arms.
