The Mexican 50 Pesos gold coin, also known as the Centenario, is a symbol of Mexico's rich heritage and national pride. 

Minted between 1921 and 1947 by the Bank of Mexico, these coins were issued to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the country's independence from Spain.

Distinguished by its size and beauty, the 50 Pesos coin is larger than most traditional one-ounce gold coins, boasting a diameter of 37.1mm and a gold-copper alloy that weighs 1.2057 ounces.

The Design

The reverse portrays the Winged Victory, the angel of independence, with outstretched wings, holding broken chains and a laurel wreath as symbols of freedom. 

The inscriptions refer to the coin’s face value, “50 PESOS,” its weight, “37.5 Gr,” metal content “ORO PURO,” the year of independence “1821” on the lower left, and the minting year on the right.
