1914-S NGC MS-64 $20 St. Gauden Double Eagle Gold Coin - San Francisco Gold Hoard
The US Mint manufactured Double Eagle Gold Coins from 1907 to 1933, with a gold content of .9675 Troy oz and Saint-Gaudens’ design, later used on the obverse of the American Gold Eagle coins.
Like several other Pre-1933 Gold Coins, the St. Gaudens Double Eagle Gold Coin was produced for widespread circulation. It weighs .9675 oz of gold, has legal tender status, and is denomination $20.
Those issued in the San Francisco Mint carry the “S” mint mark.
Because of the economic collapse of the 1930s, only some of these coins survived the confiscation act and the popular practice of melting them down for their gold content due to high inflation in gold prices.
Today, SD Bullion offers 1914-S $20 St. Gauden Double Eagle Gold Coins, sealed and certified by NGC as an MS-64 coin.

An NGC MS-64 Coin
NGC - Numismatic Guaranty Company works independently from sovereign mints, appraising and grading coins using the Sheldon Grading Scale as a parameter.
MS stands for Mint State, referring to coins issued in the same format as a business circulation coin. 64 is the grade given to coins with average luster, noticeable, light scuff marks, or defects but with attractive overall quality.
