1907 PCGS MS-64 $20 Liberty Double Eagle Gold Coin
The last strike of Liberty Double Eagles occurred in 1907. Since their first release in 1850, Liberty Double Eagle coins circulated in the US as the official $20 coin containing .9675 oz of gold.
Their design was a creation by James B. Longacre’s design, the fourth Chief Engraver of the US Mint.
Many $20 Liberty Double Eagles vanished during the economic downturn of the 1930s. As gold prices increased, several Pre-1933 gold coins were confiscated, hoarded, and melted down for their gold content.
Today, SD Bullion has 1907 $20 Liberty Double Eagle Gold Coins in stock, sealed and certified by PCGS as MS-64 coins.

The Design
On the obverse, Lady Liberty, who wears a tiara engraved with “LIBERTY,” is encircled by the thirteen six-pointed stars that refer to the Thirteen Original Colonies. The year of mintage is inscribed at the bottom rim.
The reverse showcases the Heraldic Eagle with spread wings, the national shield in front of its chest, arrows in its talons, and the banner “E PLURIBUS UNUM” in its beak.
It is encircled by the words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” followed by the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST.” The “S” mint mark is beneath the shield. The coin’s face value engraved at the bottom reads “TWENTY DOLLARS.”
A PCGS MS-64 coin
PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service) is internationally recognized for appraising and grading coins using the Sheldon Grading Scale as a parameter. It works apart from sovereign mints, certifying coins from 1 to 70, according to their condition.
MS stands for Mint State, referring to coins issued in the same format as a business circulation coin. 64 is the grade given to coins with average luster, noticeable, light scuff marks, or defects but with attractive overall quality.
