1906-S PCGS MS-62 $20 Liberty Double Eagle Gold Coin 

The US Mint struck Liberty Double Eagles for over 50 years. The first release dates back to 1850, when they aimed for widespread circulation as the US official $20 coin.

Liberty Doule Eagle coins contain .9675 oz of gold and exhibit high craftsmanship. They showcase the icons of American coins: Lady Liberty and the Heraldic Eagle, as designed by James B. Longacre, the fourth Chief Engraver of the US Mint.

Several official branches crafted $20 Liberty Double Eagle coins, and those issued by the San Francisco Mint bear the “S” mint mark on the reverse side.

The Design

The obverse features Lady Liberty’s portrayal wearing a tiara inscribed "LIBERTY," thirteen six-pointed stars representing the original Thirteen Colonies and the year of mintage.

The reverse showcases the Heraldic Eagle with spread wings. It has arrows in its talons, the national shield on its chest, and the banner "E PLURIBUS UNUM" in its beak. 

The inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST," and the coin's face value of "TWENTY DOLLARS" complete the image.
