Minted by the US Mint between 1850 and 1907, the Liberty Double Eagle Gold Coin holds a face value of $20 and contains 0.9675 ounces of fine gold.

Chief Engraver James B. Longacre masterfully crafted the coin's design, which showcases Lady Liberty and the majestic Heraldic Eagle. 

Many $20 Liberty Double Eagles vanished during the economic downturn of the 1930s. As gold prices increased, several Pre-1933 gold coins were confiscated, hoarded, and melted down for their gold content.

On the obverse, Lady Liberty exhibits a tiara engraved with “LIBERTY.” Her imagery is encircled by thirteen six-pointed stars, indicating the Thirteen Original Colonies and the year of mintage.

The Heraldic Eagle reverse imagery features the majestic Eagle with spread wings, the national shield in front of its chest, arrows in its talons, and the banner “E PLURIBUS UNUM” in its beak. 

The accompanying engravings read “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the coin’s face value of “TWENTY DOLLARS.”
