The Design

On the obverse, is the official Seal of Texas based on the Republic of Texas seal. The date the Texas Constitution and this seal were adopted is struck on the bottom “DECEMBER 29, 1845”. The seal features the five-point star in the center surrounded by olive and oak branches. The top reads “THE GREAT STATE OF TEXAS”. 

The reverse design features the historically significant Gonzales Cannon and the Texas Lone Star. The words “COME AND TAKE IT” refer to the Texas militia refusing to return the cannon to the Mexican military and instead using it in the fight for their own independence. On the bottom you can find the specifications of the round “1 TROY OUNCE .999 FINE SILVER”.
