The Design

The obverse of these silver rounds showcases an adapted version of the Walking Liberty design from Adolph A. Weinman.

Weinman was Augustus Saint Gaudens' apprentice and one of the greatest coin designers in American history.

The original picture stamped the Walking Liberty Half-Dollar coin from 1916 to 1947. Later, in 1986, the United States Mint revamped the design for the American Eagle silver coins.

In the image, Lady Liberty walks toward the sun's rays, hence the moniker. She has the national flag draped on her shoulder, oak branches on her arm, and the other arm is stretched in a welcome sign.

The word “LIBERTY” arches on top. The motto “IN GOD WE TRUST” is on the lower right and the Sunshine Minting initials are on the button.

The reverse design features the Heraldic Eagle. The animal exhibits open wings and carries the “E PLURIBUS UNUM” banner in its beak. The talons are grasping arrows and an olive branch. The National Shield is on its chest with the Sunshine mint mark carved on the central circle.

Above the Eagle, thirteen pointed stars form a triangular pattern, representing the original colonies. The inscriptions encircling the image are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” on top, the weight “ONE TROY OUNCE,” and the purity “999 FINE SILVER” on the bottom.
