The Design

The dragon engraved on the obverse overlaps with a patterned background. The Dragon has a twisted body, an open mouth showing sharp teeth, and is about to grasp a pearl. The Chinese character and “DRAGON” are inscribed on the lower right.

The same waved pattern covers the reverse side, which displays the Perth Mint's London Bullion Market Association registered mark, bar’s purity, metal content, and weight described as “99.99% PURE GOLD 1 OUNCE.”
