1 oz American Silver Eagle Burnished Coin with Box & COA- Random Year

American Silver Eagle coins feature striking designs that symbolize patriotism and national pride, showcasing the iconic Lady Liberty and the Eagle.

First introduced in 1986 through the American Eagle Program, the US Mint expanded its offerings to include Proof and Burnished editions.

These particular coins are the burnished versions, created using blanks that have gone through a special burnishing process. This treatment removes unwanted oxides, giving the coins a matte finish and enhancing the sharpness of their design details.

At SD Bullion, you can acquire 1 oz Burnished American Silver Eagles, housed in an original mint box with a Certificate of Authenticity. They may be of varied mintages, randomly taken from our stocks, according to your availability when shipping.

Coin Highlights

  • Contains 1 oz of .999 fine silver;
  • Burnished coin;
  • Produced by the US Mint;
  • Bears a USD 1 face value and legal tender status;
  • The obverse showcases “The Walking Liberty” by Adolph A. Weinman;
  • Assorted reverse designs;
  • Housed in an original mint box with a COA;
  • Of varied mintage years.

The Obverse Design

The standard obverse, designed by Adolph A. Weinman, showcases Lady Liberty walking toward the sun with an outstretched arm, the American flag draped over her shoulder, and oak branches in her arm.

Additional engravings consist of the word “LIBERTY,” the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the year of issuance.

Reverse Type 1

The first reverse design was created by US Chief Engraver John Mercanti.

The Heraldic Eagle is beneath 13 stars in the image, representing the Thirteen Original Colonies. It has the National Shield on its chest, arrows and olive branches in its talons, and a banner with "E PLURIBUS UNUM" in its beak.

The information regarding the coin's face value, weight, metal content, and purity read "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ FINE SILVER," and "ONE DOLLAR."

Reverse Type 2

Celebrating the 35th Anniversary of the American Eagle Program, the US Mint updated the reverse design in 202.

Emily Damstra depicted a Bald Eagle perched on a branch. Inscriptions detailing the coin’s weight, metal content, and purity surround the image, reading “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “ONE DOLLAR,” “1 OZ,” and “FINE SILVER.”

Burnished Coins

A Burnished American Eagle Coin results from a “burnishing” process, hence the name. It essentially means that the blanks are cleaned from all oxides formed during the annealing and rimming process. This way, burnished coins get a satin look and a smooth surface but less reflective luster than Proof American Eagles.

Despite being sold with original packaging and the COA, the coins may not be in the original quality it was when it was first available. By purchasing a Random 1 oz American Silver Eagle Burnished Coin, the product received may contain imperfections such as milk spots, toning, or contact marks. These are sold based on currently available inventory at the time of purchase.
