1 oz American Gold Eagle Proof Coin - Random Year (Damaged)

The American Gold Eagle stands out among the most desired gold coins worldwide.

In addition to the standard bullion version, the US Mint produces Proof Gold Eagles of varied sizes.

These coins are in circulated condition, meaning they show signs of wear and tear. Nevertheless, these coins remain prized pieces for collectors seeking both historical significance and investment value.

Today, SD Bullion offers these 1 oz American Gold Eagle Proof coins (damaged) at unique premiums, of varied dates, randomly selected from our inventory.

Coin Highlights

  • Crafted with 22-Karat gold, but guaranteed to contain 1 full Troy oz of gold;
  • Holds legal tender status and a face value of USD 50;
  • With reeded edges;
  • The obverse showcases the 1907 Saint-Gaudens’ Lady Liberty;
  • Original or new reverse design;
  • In circulated condition but guaranteed gold content;
  • Of varied mint years.

The Design

The obverse design features Lady Liberty, designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens to be the 1907 20-dollar Double Eagle Coin.

Lady Liberty is the feminine personification of the nation, and her march forward, carrying a torch and an olive branch, represents the nation's march to progress, peace, and enlightenment. The Capitol Building is imprinted on the lower left.

It also features the word “LIBERTY” engraved on top, the coin’s mintage year on the right, and stars encircling the image.

The Bald Eagle is a permanent design element in Gold Eagle Coins.

The original reverse design displays a female Bald Eagle cherishing its hatchling under her wing while the male Eagle perches their nest. The words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” are inscribed over the image, which is flanked by the mottos “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.” The coin’s weight, metal content, and face value are at the bottom rim.

In 2021, the reverse design was updated to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the American Eagle Program. Emily Damstra revamped the Bald Eagle, giving it a close-up depiction with a deep gaze and a highlighted hooked beak.

Damaged American Gold Eagles

Damaged gold coins are essentially gold coins that are in circulated condition. This could mean physical defects such as scuffs, hairlines, dents, and pitting. However, the coins remain untouched in terms of weight and metal content.

Random Year Purchase

Through this purchase modality, SD Bullion offers authentic American Gold Eagle Proof Coins, weighing 1 oz of 22k gold, of several editions at exclusive shopping conditions. However, years of mintage may vary according to our inventory availability at the time of shipping.
