The Design
Standard to the series, the reverse design displays the skull of a longhorn in focus, with a huge five-pointed star on its forehead, flanked by olive and oak branches.
The name of the series, “DON’T MESS WITH TEXAS,” is beneath the skull’s depiction at the bottom. And in small letters, at the bottom rim read: “ONE TROY OUNCE .999 FINE SILVER,” referring to the round’s weight, purity, and metal content.
The obverse design features the Alamo, the chapel of the Mission San Antonio de Valero, Texas, from the 18th century, the site of a historic resistance effort for Texan independence from Mexico in 1836.
“Alamo” in Spanish means cottonwood. The chapel got this moniker because of the cottonwood grove surrounding the area.
