The Obverse Design

Reverse Design – Type 1

Designed by Miley Busiek, the original reverse features a Bald Eagle family. A female eagle shelters her hatchling while a male eagle rests on the nest, symbolizing unity, strength, and protection. Surrounding inscriptions include “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the specifications “1 OZ. FINE GOLD—50 DOLLARS.”

Reverse Design – Type 2

Introduced in 2021 for the 35th anniversary of the program, the Type 2 design by Jennie Norris presents a close-up profile of a bald eagle with a powerful and detailed gaze. The inscriptions remain the same as the Type 1 design.
